Social Networking

Social Networking can be risky because anyone can access the information. A website I found discussed internet safety and it stated that “the Internet is the world’s biggest information exchange: many more people could see your information than you intend, including your parents, your teachers, your employer, the police — and strangers, some of whom could be dangerous” (FTC Facts). Kids do not seem to realize this and post private information for everyone to see.

Ways that teachers can teach students to be safer when using social networking sites is by having them make their pages private or have only friends be able to see it. T
each ers can also tell students never to give their real name or any other information out to anyone. This includes having a user name that does not tell too much about you. I always take these precautions too when I go on websites like Facebook. This is because I do not want just anyone looking at my personal information. I also only post information or pictures that you would feel comfortable with anyone seeing. This is because once you post something on the Internet you can never take it back.
