by blocking certain sites that are not suitable for students, teachers are able to better monitor the information that students can receive and are able to make sure they only view things that are appropriate. If students were allowed to go anywhere on the internet they might stumble upon a site that makes them vulnerable to predators. As long as the students are being monitored then there will be less of a chance of something bad happening.
